How to write reusable AI prompts with variables

Most prompts are written once and thrown away. A reusable prompt template saves hours.
Use variables
Replace anything that changes between uses with a token like [BRAND_NAME] or [TARGET_AUDIENCE]. When you reuse the template, you only fill the blanks.
Split big jobs into steps
Large tasks work better as a sequence: plan first, then build, then review. Each step gets its own focused prompt.
Keep rules explicit
End every prompt with clear rules: output format, tone, and what to avoid.
